Think it Through, Mr. President!

With no though of impunity, Trump calls again for unity.                                                                                                                                                 He doesn’t seem to understand how he plays right into the hands                       of bigots, racists, dictators – and fuels the flames for all ‘haters’.                         Each time he ‘tweets’ something unkind, he helps to crystalize a mind.           His insults and his critcism serves only to expand the schism.                               The things he says are rarely wise. I wonder: does he realize                                 how he continues to divide the population, nationwide?                                         Somebody needs to hit “delete” and cancel everything he’ll ‘tweet’!                 -RKO-                                  #725          08-13-17                                                                      [Political Poetry by RKO now available at]

Who Do We Think We Are?

There’s people out there who believe that it’s a good idea to “bomb the shit” out of another country (North Korea).                                                                               We have to blow them all to bits before they strike at us!                                           As long as we kill Kim Jong Un, no one would make a fuss!                                       If Kim has missiles capable of coming close to Guam,                                                 we have to let him take his shot and try to stop his bomb!                                         If we strike first, and then find out his weapons don’t exist,                                   then we face wrath around the world from leaders who’ll insist                           that we provoked Kim, and he had to guard his citizens;                                           and we become the bully, the mean Americans.                                                             Our allies might start finding it too hard to justify:                                                     why we committed genocide and let Koreans die.                                                         -RKO-                                     #724         08-12-17                                                                   [Political Poetry by RKO now available at]

Man’s Still Not Worth It

I wonder what the dolphins think when they see  everything we sink .               A ship, a plane, a submarine. Why try to keep our oceans clean?                           The oceans are our dumping ground, a kind of global lost-and-found.             There’s unexploded bombs and guns, and human garbage by the tons!             And, yet, we wonder why the sharks and whales from the deepest reaches       are coming up on pristine shores and landing on our public beaches.                 Well, think about it; it makes sense: they’re trying to escape the stench           that man has made of their domain. But, are we hearing them complain?         They’re telling us to stop this shit! Stop making seas our garbage pit!               -RKO-                               #723          08-11-17                                                                          [Political Poetry by RKO now available at]

Man’s Not Worth It

God’s in His Heaven, looking down on Earth,                                                                                                                                                as He wonders why he gave mankind such worth.                                                       Next time He creates a globe, here’s what He’ll be seeing:                                       He’ll appoint the animals as the greater being!                                                               They’re superior, by far; they’ll respect Creation.                                                       They won’t start a World War with another nation!                                                     God now knows what He did wrong. He gave man ‘free will’.                                   Then man chose to use that gift as his “right” to kill.                                                 Man decided – on his own! – how to use God’s present.                                             Animals can surely make Earth a lot more pleasant!                                                   -RKO-                          #722                                                 08-10-17                                     [Political Poetry by RKO now available at]

“Fire and Fury”

He rode in on his big white horse                                                                                         and wore his big white hat.                                                                                                     He told us not to worry; that if it comes to ‘that’,                                                         he promised there’d be “fire and fury”.                                                                             Now we’ve all seen the John Wayne films                                                                         where ‘Duke’ kills every ‘injun’.                                                                                             It won’t be all that easy to take out Kim Jong Un!                                                         He’ll order all his people to act as human shields,                                                         and force them to ‘stand guard’ until                                                                                 the U.S. finally yields.                                                                                                                 And, if Trump orders, “Kill ’em all!”,                                                                                 we’ll have to be prepared                                                                                                         to face the world and then explain                                                                                       how badly we have erred.                                                                                                         The world will not look lightly                                                                                               on massive genocide,                                                                                                                 especially if Kim’s still in charge while North Koreans died.                                   If all our ‘fire and fury’ kills innocent civilians,                                                             how will Americans explain the deaths of all those millions?                                 -RKO-                                     #721           08-09-17                                                                 [Political Poetry by RKO now available at]

The TRUMP White House

So now we’ve all heard Donald Trump                                                                                                                                               say how the White House is a dump.                                                                                   And while he’s taking a vacation,                                                                                         they’re working on some renovation,                                                                                to bring the White House “up to snuff”                                                                             and make it suitable enough.                                                                                                 Imagine, how, when he gets back,                                                                                       it’s all done up in gold and black;                                                                                         a lot more gaudy, ostentatious, with painted nudes                                                     – ah, so curvaceous!                                                                                                                   And, on the roof, for all to see –                                                                                             huge letters: T-R-U-M-P.                                                                                                       -RKO-                                       #720           08-08-17                                                               [Political Poetry by RKO now available at]

Drug Dealing’s Legal if You’re a Corporation

You’re standin’ on the corner; you’re dealin’ pills and pot.                                                                                                                                                      The cops show up: you’re busted! You’re future’s all but shot.                               But, if you’re an executive at Lilly, Merck or Pfizer,                                                   you sell a couple billion pills, and nobody’s the wiser!                                               Both ways, your customers get high; both ways, they crave your drug.               One way makes you a millionaire; one way makes you a thug.                                 It’s legal if you own a bar, or sell ’em cigarettes, or build a big casino                 where they can place their bets.                                                                                             Just get ’em hooked, and you’ll get rich, as long as you’re discreet.                     But don’t go pushin’ drugs and pills in shadows off the street!                               -RKO-                                            #719                               08-07-17                                       [Political Poetry by RKO now available at]

Health Care for Healthier Profits

Now Mitch will “consider” a brand new health care plan.                                                                                                                                                   And why should we not be surprised.                                                                                 He’s thinking it might really be a “healthy” new idea                                               if all the big insurers were to be subsidized!                                                                   I’m guessing that this was the plan, behind closed doors                                         for all those weeks.                                                                                                                       Insurers told Congress they had to be sure that profits  would reach record peaks!                                                                                                                                                 So, government pays “big insurance” all these billions – to stabilize markets, they say.                                                                                                                         And ‘big insurance’ takes all that cash, but still, then, refuses to pay                 whenever a customer files a claim, because that’s how they’ll rig the game.   They’ll keep all the government money, for sure,                                                       while premiums keep on rising.                                                                                           And then they’ll contribute to Mitch’s campaign,                                                         and no one will find that surprising!                                                                                   -RKO-           #718                                              08-06-17                                                        [Political Poetry by RKO now available at]

Vacation for the Nation

Remember how Trump used to whine about Barack’s vacation?                                                                                                                                          And how much time and money it was costing our dear nation?                           Now, Trump’s going on vacation, for which the public pays;                                 and we’ve been told that he’ll be gone for more than sixteen days!                       Now we know being President’s a highly stressful task,                                             and needing just to get away is not too much to ask.                                                   But, might he have to take a break and  hide from public view                               because he sees that he’s bit off much more than he can chew?                             Could he just be exhausted, fatigued, worn to a “T”?                                                 Or does he need the time to plan a defense strategy?                                                 We may not ever really know his reasons for retreats.                                                 But, while he’s on vacation, he’ll still find time for ‘tweets’!                                   -RKO-                                                #717           08-05-17                                                       [Political Poetry by RKO now available at]

Looky, Looky, Leaky, Leaky!

The reason that there is a leak inside the White House is  because                  all things are looking pretty bleak, and no one’s taking time to pause.               Nobody thinks about long-term; who cares who it affects?                                     So there’s a leaker, “inside worm”? For all one knows, (s)he could be next!   It’s hard to ask for loyalty when there’s no job security.                                           It’s difficult to be inspired when you expect to hear, “You’re fired!”                  I think you’ll see an exodus of mass proportion soon,                                                 as people say, “There is no way I’m working for this goon!                                     If fealty’s a requirement, I’ll take early retirement!                                                    I’m getting out before I’m gone. There’s no way he makes me his pawn!          I don’t think I can leave much faster. Trump will not be my Lord and Master!                                                                                                                                              And, as his staff begins to thin, of course, Trump sees it as a ‘win’.                      He’s cutting costs, that was his pledge, as government peers near the edge!   The “Indians” have all gone home; Trump’s now the only ‘chief”.                       He rules his kingdom all alone. He must feel much relief.                                         -RKO-              #716                08-04-17                                                                                    [“Political Poetry by RKO” now available at]
